MUSIC FOR MORALE BY CARLIE WALKER - FRASER COAST CHRONICLE

HERVEY Bay country music singer Keri McInerney has been moved by the plight of her fellow Queenslanders.

The devastating floods that have affected areas throughout Queensland have spurred her into action and, with the help of other country music stars, Keri is hoping she will be able to help the communities and get them back on their feet.

The first step of her plan is to get into the flood-affected communities of Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Gayndah and Emerald and perform morale-boosting concerts in those locations.

She knows that in many areas the stars who want to participate will need to be flown in and she is hoping sponsors will help them bring a bit of sunshine into the lives of those who are struggling most.

The second part of her plan is to stage several larger concerts that will help with the fundraising efforts as the communities start to rebuild.

Keri said the success she had enjoyed in her career had given her strong contacts within the country music community and that had enabled her to start putting together plans for the concerts.

Several radio stations throughout Queensland are also keen to support the project, Keri says.

She is trying to secure travel assistance for the artists from Qantas and Virgin Blue.

“We are hoping we may be able to acquire helicopters to get some of our artists into the various areas to do some acoustic morale-building type shows so if anyone out there can assist in the supply of transportation to the areas, please contact me urgently,” Keri said.

Normie Rowe, Broderick Smith and Matt Walker, from the Dingoes, have all expressed a desire to support the project, along with Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Harvey, Liam Brew, Sinead Burgess and Lance Coassin.

A huge number of artists from around the Fraser Coast had also offered their services if needed, Keri said.

“That's what I love about Australians – we are always there to help our fellow Aussies when the chips are down,” she said.

The first round of performances will start on January 11 in Bundaberg.

All money raised from the major concerts will go towards supporting the statewide flood appeal.

VIP trip music to Keri's ears By Jocelyn Watts - Fraser Coast Chronicle.

THE universe is shining on Hervey Bay's music star Keri McInerney.

Despite taking time off early this year to recover from a minor operation, she is basking in a series of lucky breaks that promise big things to come.

In April she was chosen to compete in the World Championship for Performing Arts at Hollywood next month against entertainers from 51 countries.

While networking on Facebook and Twitter, McInerney linked up with Gregg Assing, producer for Grammy Award-winning British-based performer Billy Ocean, who had a string of international pop hits in the 1970s and 1980s.

“Gregg said they were coming to Australia and invited me to be a VIP guest at their Sydney performance.”

That was last week and McInerney is still on cloud nine after spending two full days with Ocean and his crew.

“It was absolutely huge,” she said. “The universe is looking after me at the moment.

She said Assing loved her music and agreed to co-write with her. He would also produce some of her tracks and help her expand into the UK market.

Meanwhile she is packing her bags in preparation for Hollywood. 'I am looking forward to a succesful trip into the USA'.

Keri McInerney Victorious return from US

KERI McInerney and Kyle Downes are coming home from America with swag of medals, and Keri has a reality TV coup, from the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood.

Hervey Bay's country music star won a total of nine medals, including gold, silver and bronze, at her second world championships last week with the winners being announced on Sunday night (EST). Last year Keri won one gold and four silver medals.

Keri McInerney was also selected as a GRAND FINALIST and performed in the MAJOR SHOWCASE on the LIVE television and internet broadcast to Billions of people worldwide. Keri along with Steve Eales performed in the duet section of the Grand Final and were runners up to Ireland.

Keri's protégé, Kyle Downes, 18, scored one gold and two bronze medals and was named overall champion for instrumental 16-24 years on his first overseas trip.

The former Fraser Coast Anglican College student was “discovered” by Keri early this year as she scouted for new Australian talent to compete at the world championships.

“Kyle's an amazing songwriter and exceptional pianist,” Keri said before leaving Australia.

Hollywood brought negotiations in a number of areas for Keri this year, a music development program, international recording, television production options and touring. Keri will be co hosting a brand new Reality program which will run internaitonally.

“I am thrilled beyond belief. Hollywood this year has been filled with opportunities for me.”

Keri looks forward to a year of exciting new horizons.

FRASER COAST CHRONICLE MONDAY OCTOBER 5TH 2009 - DAD INSPIRED KERI'S LATEST SINGLE 'TICKIN'

Dad inspired Keri's single
5th October 2009

Hervey Bay's Keri McInerney's inspiration for the song was her father, who died of lung cancer almost five years ago.

“Whenever I perform it is quite emotive,” she said.

“There are a lot of metaphors within the song.

“I didn't know he was ill. I went to his house and it is about the experience of going into that room. It was a heavy experience.”

The sounds of the song, which is on her new album, Stay, was true to her country roots, McInerney said, but it also had a slight rock edge.

The song showcases her vocal and song writing talents, described as being a country and soft rock classic.

The track has been called the standout song on her album and McInerney said she believed this to be true.

McInerney, who earlier this year won one gold and three silver medals at the World Championships of Performing Arts, said the album, and in particular the latest single, received a good response from reviewers.

Michael Flanders, Steve Tebbett, Jason Millhouse, Savannah Jo Lack, Vaughn Jones, Billy Williams and Jon Forbes all contributed to making the single come to life.

Hot on the heels of major US success in Hollywood, where KERI McINERNEY won 1 Gold and 4 silver medals at the World Championships of Performing Arts, we now see the releases of her latest and much talked about quality radio single, Tickin'. The track has received numerous notable industry reviews as the outstanding single on Keri's latest charting album Stay. Keri shows influences in her songwriting from NEIL YOUNG and CRAZY HORSE in this track and once again shows her world standard as one of the finest female vocalists in the Australian music industry.

Tickin' also features some outstanding musicianship from Michael Flanders,Steve Tebbett and Jason Millhouse, Guitars; Steve Tebbett, Harmonica; Savannah Jo Lack, Fiddle, Vaughn Jones, Piano; Billy Williams, Bass and John Forbes, Drums. Tickin' by Keri McInerney - a guaranteed radio hit!
Compiliation notes | NfS 134 Track 9

KERI McINERNEY is a lady who knows music can move mountains, hearts and tears. 'STAY', is her newest album, a rich tapestry of emotions, joyful and emotive.

The title track is quite exceptional, joining with guitar maestro MICHAEL FIX in a desperate plea for a lover not to leave. She then turns up the fun with mates MICHAEL O'ROURKE and STEVE EALES in the classic 'Stuck In The Middle With You'.

'Easy', is a fine track about when love becomes less than easy.

But the surprise standout track for me is 'Tickin'. It really showcases Keri's vocal and songwriting talents: a hot country/soft rock track with mind-blowing guitar work from JASON MILLHOUSE, MIKE FLANDERS and Keri's long-time music collaborator STEVE TEBBETT, interwoven with superb fiddle by SAVANNAH JO LACK - I had to hit the repeat three times!

'STAY' will stay with you: a quality work from an impressive lady.

Media Release GOLD IN LA FOR AUSSIE KERI McINERNEY

JULY 2009
An Australian music distribution to national and international media

Media Release

GOLD in LA for Aussie Keri McInerney

Keri McInerney the voice behind the independent album release ‘Stay’, and tracks like ‘I Know What You Want’, ‘For Your Love’ and the soon to be released ‘Tickin’, arrived back in Australia fresh from Los Angeles California last week, clinching one gold and four silver medals.

A multi award winner and nominee in several major awards, country music’s Golden Guitars, the TIARAs, and the People’s Choice Awards, Keri left Brisbane on July 8 to compete at the 13th World Championships of Performing Arts,in Hollywood. The world championships provide an international stage for aspiring artists in a variety of entertainment genres, where Keri's fellow team member Australia’s Got Talent Smokin’ Joe Robinson walked away a champion, the 2009 Grand Champion Performer of the World.

Competing against participants from 51 countries at The California Ballroom in Hollywood, the news of success came quickly for Hervey Bay’s Keri McInerney.

‘I was stunned to receive my first award, a gold medal in the Latin category, then four more, all silver, in country, originals, open and jazz. It was just mind blowing’ she said.

Performing original work from her latest album released last year and ‘the One’ released in 2004, impressed a number of the judges, prominent industry members of the WCOPA Advisory Council, and opened doors to several meetings and discussions with music executives in the film capital.

‘I Know What You Want’ a hit track on the West Coast back in May, sealed the Country Section silver medal. ‘Fill Me Up’, and ‘Stay’ numbered silver medals two and three in Original and Jazz sections, and tallied four with the final silver in the Open section, ‘Outrun the Wind’ a Brent Parlane and Brent Jeffrey penned song from Keri’s album ‘the One’, just behind the ultimate win, the Gold in the Latin section for ‘End of Time’.

WCOPA’s Australian National Director Lizette Hunt who accompanied the team members, said ‘Australia had a highly successful team competing, with all bar two team members achieving medals in all categories, from vocalists, instrumentalists, dance, modelling and variety.’

‘In our first year as competitors, Team Australia achieved the Grand Champion, 2 Senior Division Grand Champions, 5 Overall category winners, 10 Bronze medals, 21 Silver medals, 16 Gold medals, 9 Overall awards and 2 Industry awards.’

‘I personally had a wonderful time at the WCOPA and more importantly the achievements of each and every one of the team, provided me with a deep sense of enjoyment, satisfaction and pride’ she added.

The international competition for amateur and professional performers is one of the biggest competitions in the world. It allows aspiring artists a massive opportunity to perform and compete on a world stage.

Keri said ‘It was a dream come true for me. I never stop trying to promote, develop and learn more about my trade and this was such an incredible opportunity to really do just that. It was fabulous to be selected, giving me more belief that my music and my performances are good enough to compete in the world arena.’

Keri McInerney next appears in Mt Isa 7-9 August 2009. Keri and her band ‘The River’ fly out next Thursday, for live performances in the town centre during the 3 day Mount Isa Rodeo event.

US exposure for Keri McInerney

MEDIA RELEASE 3Apr09
US exposure for Keri McInerney
I Know What You Want a hit on US East Coast and Florida Radio

In an era where hype and exposure is high on the agenda, Keri McInerney has quietly pulled off a coup all of her own. Radio airplay in the states, to be precise.

East Coast and Florida radio have picked up I Know What You Want, from the Australian artist’s latest album Stay, and hung on to it since November last year.

A quirky knack for delivering a good album, a quintessential vocalist and songwriter Keri McInerney has worked for two years to put together the best combinations of song, production and musicianship to deliver the best.

A high achiever Keri has managed to get it right in the music industry essentially since her debut album, Fool’s Game from the first hit single Out on Our Verandah, where she was acclaimed a breath of fresh air leaving the industry asking ‘who was this singer from Hervey Bay’.

Her second album Love’s A Crazy Thing, produced five hit singles the self titled Love’s A Crazy Thing, He’s No Good, When Love Walked In, Lonely Life and the standout track Exactly How I Feel, another original, this time with Michael O’Rourke, voted a TIARA Independent Artist Collaboration Award. Her third album ‘The One’ became a Top Ten hit in itself, adding to a growing list and later becoming the benchmarks Keri worked hard to achieve in her fourth album.

Stay delivers the whole package plus.

The combination of talents from some of the best Australia has to offer, the essence of magic from Michael Fix, difficult to describe ranging from gusto to maestro, is the perfect balance in sophistication for this album, and teams brilliantly with the production and musicianship from long time associate and music mentor Steve Tebbett, and the knowing contributions of Michael Flanders, Jason Millhouse, Vaughn Jones and fiddler player Savannah Jo Lack.

Stay has already produced singles like ‘For Your Love’ the debut single on NfS in Australia, the risk taking retro ‘Stuck In the Middle With You’ with Michael O’Rourke and Steve Eales an Australian Top 10 charting hit single, also released on NfS, and still getting airplay in Europe, and now ‘I Know What You Want’, playing to rave responses in the United States, on the east coast, California and in Florida.

One can only wonder the response from the urban sophisticated West Coast market, perfect for this album, and where news Keri says, is travelling fast.

‘I am gaining airplay in Beverly Hills, California on Twitter Live Radio which is also of course linked internationally on Twitter’

‘Radio in Philadelphia  loves Know What You Want , where the song got picked up by as the leading breakfast show theme song.’

‘Miami Florida also has major interest in my music with connections to shows USA wide.

A serious contender in online radio charts in the US and country music programming on Australian radio, Stay and the standout singles I Know What You Want, Walk In My Shoes, and the seriously superb Tickin are some of Keri’s best work.

The success however, comes with a price. Keri was back in hospital last week, recovering on Friday from extensive surgery. Her second bout with doctors and hospital in the last three years, adding to an already difficult year with a death in the family in January.

‘I will be back on deck as soon as I get the ok from doctors. It’s a shame this is happening as I have had a couple of scares, but my music keeps me keen as mustard to get back performing as soon as possible.’ an ever optimistic Keri said last week.

For an insight into this superb album go to Keri’s webpage, myspace and Musicoz sites where Keri & Michael Fix were Musicoz 2008 finalists.
