Victorious return from US KERI McInerney and Kyle Downes are coming home from America with swag of medals, and Keri has a reality TV coup, from the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood.
Hervey Bay's country music star won a total of nine medals, including gold, silver and bronze, at her second world championships last week with the winners being announced on Sunday night (EST). Last year Keri won one gold and four silver medals. Keri McInerney was also selected as a GRAND FINALIST and performed in the MAJOR SHOWCASE on the LIVE television and internet broadcast to Billions of people worldwide. Keri along with Steve Eales performed in the duet section of the Grand Final and were runners up to Ireland. You can view Keri's performance at: www.wcopa.tv Keri's protégé, Kyle Downes, 18, scored one gold and two bronze medals and was named overall champion for instrumental 16-24 years on his first overseas trip. The former Fraser Coast Anglican College student was “discovered” by Keri early this year as she scouted for new Australian talent to compete at the world championships. “Kyle's an amazing songwriter and exceptional pianist,” Keri said before leaving Australia. Keri can also now list international reality television show host to her resume. “I am the host of the new reality television program – WCOPA (World Championships of Performing Arts),” she told her Facebook friends. “It's an international deal and is just a wonderful acquisition. “The program is being co-ordinated by South African Television in conjunction with a Hollywood production team. “I am thrilled beyond belief. Hollywood this year has been filled with opportunities for me.” Keri competed in eight music categories – open, original, jazz, country and rock, duet sections of country, original and open – and the acting and photographic modelling section. |

CAPITAL NEWS REVIEW OF KERI McINERNEYS LATEST ALBUM
"STAY" KERI McINERNEY is a lady who knows music can move mountains, hearts and tears. 'STAY', is her newest album, a rich tapestry of emotions, joyful and emotive. The title track is quite exceptional, joining with guitar maestro MICHAEL FIX in a desperate plea for a lover not to leave. She then turns up the fun with mates MICHAEL O'ROURKE and STEVE EALES in the classic 'Stuck In The Middle With You'. 'Easy', is a fine track about when love becomes less than easy. But the surprise standout track for me is 'Tickin'. It really showcases Keri's vocal and songwriting talents: a hot country/soft rock track with mind-blowing guitar work from JASON MILLHOUSE, MIKE FLANDERS and Keri's long-time music collaborator STEVE TEBBETT, interwoven with superb fiddle by SAVANNAH JO LACK - I had to hit the repeat three times! 'STAY' will stay with you: a quality work from an impressive lady. - DEBORAH MINTER
CAPITAL NEWS - SOUND ADVICE REVIEWS
REVIEW IN 'BLUES THE HEART OF THE LAND - BY CHARLIE SPARROW STAY - KERI MCINERNEY This is the fourth album release for Keri and by the way it is being aired on national television both here and abroad, Keri McInerney is in for a big year in country music. Keri's latest single releae and title track was recently named a finalist in the National Musicoz Awards, with Keri sharing this accolade with multi Golden Guitar winner, Michael Fix. The latest single of the alum for radio airplay is a lovely song called Know What You Want, with some good fiddle in it. Also featured on the album is the song that shot up the country charts last year, Stuck In The Middle With You, going up into the top 10 around the country. The backing on this album is top class with 'Savannah' Jo Lack on fiddle, Vaughn Jones on keyboards and Mike Flanders on pedal steel. As an independent artist, as many of our Aussie artists are, Keri has built up a very good reputation with her audiences and is gaining new fans all the time as she plays her shows around Australia. This is a very good album from Keri and we wish her all the best |
